Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L) Taub is a medium-sized annual herb distributed virtually all over the world. In particular this the plant is popular in the system of Ethnomedicine and in folk and traditional medicines such as Ayurvedic and Siddha the ancient Tamil medicine considered the oldest form of healing among all civilizations. In traditional medicines various parts such as leaves, seeds and pods find their use in diabetes, asthma, inflammation, as the laxative, antibacterial, appetite depressant and hypolipidemic agent. Certainly the on its phytochemistry, also in light of the above is very interesting.
Also in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, the leaves are used in asthma, and the pods and seeds are used to treat inflammation, sprains, arthritis, as an antioxidant and laxative. Ayurvedics also use it to reduce fire as a digestive, tonic, in constipation, and in kapha and pitta conditions.
Guar gum PHGG is a long-chain polysaccharide consisting of galactose and mannose, similar to locust bean gum. Its constituent galactomannans, which are also used in human products, undergo a process in which the germ and husks removed by grinding and dry heating represent the finished product.
The leaves and pods contain carbohydrates, protein, fiber, galactomannans, ascorbic acid and tannins. In addition, its flavonoid content is very interesting because it includes the quercetin kaempferol. Kaempferol is a polyphenolic antioxidant found in fruits and vegetables. Many studies have described the beneficial effects of kaempferol in the diet in reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
